Social Science Exhibition-the highlight of the academic calendar once again created a buzz at Scottish High International School with its theme- The Mystique Land of Ladakh.
Showcasing the topic, Highlanders created two interactive 6×3 feet 3D Maps representing the location and physical features- using the paper mache technique on one and the main tourist destinations in Ladakh using Catograpical Technique on the other. Sonam Wanchug’s Solar Tent for soldiers living in high altitudes with extremely low temperate depicted through a 3×4 Feet Model left the parents in awe! Life-size rotating prayer wheels and a 3×4 model of Ladakh relief and urban settlement had a mesmerizing effect on all the visitors.
Parents were spellbound to see all aspects of Ladakh covered by the Highlanders with such accuracy. The topics ranged from the location and political divisions through maps and models, cuisine through miniatures of food items made by students with clay, beads jewellery made up of terracotta, costumes worn by students, and especially the mannequin draped in traditional Ladakhi attire. The art and architecture exhibited through models and charts revolving around sustainable lifestyle methods in Ladakh, and a religious corner full of statues of Buddha, incense sticks and prayer beads gave it a religious flavour. Parents were especially captivated by the beauty of the paintings of the Ladakhi landscape. Tibetan prayer flags hung across the auditorium added a festive feel to the exhibition.
While the students explained their models, paintings, and charts to the audience, a team of Highlanders dressed as the people of Ladakh in their traditional costumes and jewellery represented the famous personalities of the region, followed by synchronous dance illustrating the beauty of Ladakhi dance. Young students from Grade 7 performed a skit on the problems of Ladakh that impressed everyone present. Songs, dances, skits, charts, paintings, scrapbooks, and models speaking about Ladakh kept the audience entranced and informed. Students also distributed tourist pamphlets about the exotic locations of Ladakh. The selfie corner also attracted attention.
Resonating the great heritage of Ladakh, the exhibition was a masterwork, having all the bearings of teamwork, ingenuity and great cultural insight!!
