SHIS recently had the honor of hosting a delegation of 13 distinguished teachers from the Scarsdale Education Trust, USA. This visit marked a significant event in our ongoing efforts to foster international collaboration and exchange in the field of education.
The delegation’s visit was focused on gaining insights into the educational practices and methodologies employed at SHIS. The delegation participated in discussions aimed at understanding and sharing best practices in education.
The interactions were enriching, paving the way for potential future collaborations between the two institutions.
Hosting the Scarsdale Education Trust delegation was a proud moment for SHIS, reflecting our commitment to building global partnerships and enhancing the educational experiences of both our students and staff.
In a first, Scottish High hosted ‘The Torch Bearers of Education Fraternity’ 2023-An initiative to honour the visionary education stalwarts for their revolutionary contributions to the field of education.
A brilliant intersection of educationists, visionaries and education trailblazers, the felicitation ceremony invited Mr Stuart Dobson- the renowned Education Improvement Adviser, as the Guest of Honour, a host of dignitaries and School Heads of prestigious Preschools cut across Gurgaon as recipients for the coveted award-The Torch Bearer of Education Fraternity-2023.
With a multicoloured presentation by Highlanders, the event also brought under the spotlight the Star Alumni-Ranveer Singh Saini, who recently won Gold Medal at the Special Olympics World Games, held in Berlin. Ranveer and his mentor Mr Anitya Chand were proudly felicitated by the Scottish High fraternity.
In addition, the proud Highlander, the author-Ms Stuti Khanna also took centre stage as her book ‘The Flying Colours of India-Against all Odds’ was proudly launched amidst a round of cheers.
Quite an eventful day at Scottish High, creating a buzz throughout the city!
Our highlanders had the privilege of interacting with Mr. Matthias Stähle, Head of Zfa (Central Agency for German Schools Abroad). The aim of the interaction was to help the students to understand the German culture and DSD I and DSD II (International German examination).
Mr. Stähle began the session by introducing himself and discussing his background in education and culture. He emphasized the importance of understanding different cultures in today’s globalized world and how it can help students perform better in international examinations.
The interaction continued with a discussion on the German education system and he emphasized on awakening interest and enthusiasm for Germany and motivating young people to learn German.
The students were then given an opportunity to ask questions, and they enthusiastically engaged with Mr. Stähle. They asked about the role of technology in Germany, higher education in Germany, economy of Germany and so on.
Overall, the interaction with Mr. Matthias Stähle was an enriching experience for the students, who gained valuable insights into the German culture and education system. It helped them to broaden their horizons and it helped them to understand the benefits of learning German in the globalized world.
Scottish High International School takes great pride in its path-breaking initiatives to incorporate technological innovations into education.
Keeping this in view, the school invited Mr Robert Widger, a renowned and phenomenal Robotic Expert who has diverse experience working with top robotic companies and Universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Mr Widger was accompanied by PM Publishers Pvt. Ltd. Representatives – Mr Davinder Singh Minhas, Computer Author and Senior IT Manager and Ms Meenakshi Aneja, Artificial Intelligence Author and Computer Department Head.
Mr Widger enlightened the students and teachers on the effective integration of robotics with programming, coding, AI and various other subjects.
Once again, Scottish High became the nerve centre of collaboration and cultural exposition by hosting the prestigious SGF INDO-SRI LANKA ALLIANCE.
Bringing together a host of delegates and dignitaries from Sri Lanka and the big wigs from diverse fields pan India viz. business, education, journalism, fashion, and sports et al., the alliance endeavoured to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the need for global cooperation in achieving a sustainable future for all.
A landmark moment for Scottish High International School as the school hosted the prestigious Indo-Japanese Collaborative Meet on 28th March 2023 by warmly welcoming the Japanese students’ delegation from Bunka Gakuen Daigaku Suginami Junior & Senior High School. Also, a matter of immense pride for the country as Scottish High is selected as one of the Best World Indian Schools to be visited by the Japanese delegation of students.
A landmark moment for Scottish High International School as the school hosted the prestigious Indo-Japanese Collaborative Meet on 28th March 2023 by warmly welcoming the Japanese students’ delegation from Bunka Gakuen Daigaku Suginami Junior & Senior High School. Also, a matter of immense pride for the country as Scottish High is selected as one of the Best World Indian Schools to be visited by the Japanese delegation of students.
Offering a perfect prelude to the meet was the traditional welcome ceremony by Scottish High students, followed by a welcoming address by the School Principal, Dr Sanjay Sachdeva and a School presentation providing a glimpse into the life and tradition at Scottish High International School. The delegates along with the crew were then taken on a guided tour of the school to get an insight into the holistic learning culture and environment at Scottish High. A friendly tug-a-war game with mixed teams was also organised to develop the spirit of solidarity and teamwork, followed by a camaraderie lunch for all the delegates, volunteers and team members.
Making the event monumental, Dr Cdr Kartikay Saini-Chairman, Scottish High International School, addressed the delegates and volunteers and presented them with the Scottish High Souvenirs and Certificates. The meeting further pinnacled with the warm exchange of memorabilia between Scottish High and the Japanese students before culminating into a warm farewell.
A buoyant intersection of culture, values and ideas, the Indo-Japanese collaborative meet at Scottish High not only marks the dawn of a new era in cross-cultural learning experience but also envisions its students as the potential envoys in strengthening bilateral ties with their overseas partner.
Highlanders leave no stone unturned when it comes to saving the environment. One of the important lessons they learned lately is that ‘Planting trees is not enough!’
Swami Prem Parivartan popularly known as Peepal Baba- an environmentalist and founder of ‘Give Me Trees Trust’ along with Mr. Ashwani Khurana -President Karma Lakelands, and renowned environmentalist, visited Scottish High with a mission to inform and ignite young Highlanders on how they must move a step further in saving the environment.
Sharing priceless information on how planting trees will not be sufficient, the duo laid emphasis on the need to take proper care of the sapling, nurture and nourish it till it grows into a tree. This lesson comes useful for Highlanders as it reinforces their movement towards saving the earth.
It is worth mentioning that Peepal Baba has planted over 20 million trees across India from the past 40 years, and Mr. Ashwani has planted 2,00,000+ trees in his lifetime. Accompanying the team was Mr. Rahul Makin the popular R.J.
Inspiring it is to have such distinguished personalities, who are truly making a sustainable impact on the environment.
Indeed, their visit has passionately galvanized young Highlanders to break fresh grounds and paint the world green.
Inspiration and experience’ are the vital constituents of education at Scottish High. Keeping this in view the Highlanders once again got the opportunity to interact with Mr. Ravi Kalra, the famous environmentalist and social reformer. Mr. Kalra shared valuable experiences on exuding positivity by filling oneself with positive energy, and thus serve humanity. Replete with interesting accounts and experiences, the session truly made its mark on motivating and inspiring little Highlanders.
Mr Navin Gullia an ex-army officer interacted with the young Highlanders and took them on a journey of inspiration. A world record holder in adventure sports, author, thinker, orator and social worker, Mr. Gullia shared his golden experiences on how to crush obstacles and harp on strength and determination. All in all, the session with its interesting accounts, was successful on making its mark on the students.
A proud moment for Highlanders as a team of educationists and teachers from Japan paid a visit to Scottish High International School. The delegates were taken through a detailed tour of the school and given a brief glimpse of life and tradition at Scottish High.
