Rocketry in Action at SHIS!
The Department of Physics, Scottish High International School, Gurugram conducted an engaging Expert Talk and Hands-on Workshop on “Rocketry and Hydro Rocket Mechanism” for Grade XI IBDP students on 12 August 2026.
The session, led by Ms. Kimi Panday, Rocketry Expert from Space India, introduced students to rocket components including the nozzle, nose cone, fuselage, propulsion system, fins and payload, along with the importance of Centre of Gravity and Centre of Pressure.
Students connected these components with key Physics concepts such as thrust, pressure, momentum, Newton’s Laws, drag, stability and projectile motion. They designed and assembled hydro rockets and enthusiastically tested them using rocket launchers.
Inspired by the experience, students are now ready to design their own hydro-rocket launching mechanism.
