An insightful session was held for the teachers of Scottish High on ”Safeguarding Classrooms” conducted by Pratisandhi Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to de-stigmatizing sexuality education and raising awareness to help teachers make informed decisions while nurturing student behavior.
The session, led by Ms Anisha Hallan, an experienced sexuality educator, and Dr. Kaavya Sreedhar, a gynecologist, with extensive experience in both medical practice and sexuality education focused on equipping teachers with the tools and knowledge to create safe and inclusive classrooms, free from stereotypes and biases.
Teachers gained an understanding of the harmful effects of gender stereotyping, which can lead to emotional distress and mental health issues in students and were encouraged to reflect on their own biases and avoid making assumptions that could reinforce stereotypes. Additionally, they were taught to carefully assess classroom situations before taking action, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
The workshop was a success, with all teachers actively participating and leaving with practical tools to safeguard their classrooms.
