In the month of July, mango season at Scottish High, Gurgaon saw not just the joy of relishing this luscious fruit but also a collective sense of purpose. Mango seed collection boxes were set up throughout the school premises, and students eagerly collected seeds after enjoying their mangoes during this season to help the Farmers in Maharashtra due to the flood and cyclones like ‘Biparjoy’ that destroyed their mango orchards in the coastal areas of Maharastra. Highlanders joined an initiative spearheaded by Mission Green Mumbai to support the One Million Tree Plantation Movement to help the farmers in their efforts to recover from crop losses.
Students, from Grade XI DP students, initiated the movement at the school. Highlanders including the students from the Primary Wing have collected 650 high-quality mango seeds. These seeds will be nurtured by the team of experts from Mission Green Mumbai and will be distributed to the farmers of Maharashtra free of cost. We believe that these young change-makers have sown the seeds of change and inspired a spirit of community service that will continue to flourish in our school for years to come. Their selflessness serves as a shining example, reminding us all that together, even the smallest acts of kindness can create a significant impact.
