With aims to raise environmental awareness and inspire others to take action towards environmental protection to address global challenges, Highlanders celebrated Earth Day with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. On the eve of Earth Day, School Principal Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva and Senior School Head Mrs. Isha Verma planted the saplings of Amla (Phyllanthus emblica) also known as Indian Gooseberry in the school premises. While interacting with the students, School Principal Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva motivated the students to plant trees and celebrate each day as Earth Day. He also emphasized the benefits of trees to our everyday lives. Other than providing food, they filter clean air, provide fresh drinking water, help curb climate change, and create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals and help save the Earth from climate change and biodiversity loss. Some of the event’s key focus areas include climate action, environmental education, social impact, pollution, global warming, conservation and restoration. Activities like class discussions, screening of videos, and poster making and creating useful items with waste, e-waste collection were conducted in the school.
